Use the root url for requesting OAuth tokens

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 - 19:49 UTC
Recently we have been making several changes to improve the ORCID API; one is standardizing the url used during the token exchange so it is the same on both the Public and Member API, and ending support for api-specific urls. Please ensure that your integrations are using the root url,

Re: [ORCID API] Ajax orcid member search not working on IE or Chrome

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 - 16:36 UTC
Hi Darren, The API search is not designed to work in a browser. For our specific OAuth 2 implementation details, we're not comfortable with tokens being used in a browser so we don't set the Access Control Request Headers, which is why you're running into his error. Best, -Catalina On Sat,

Ajax orcid member search not working on IE or Chrome

Sat, 22 Apr 2017 - 15:18 UTC
Hi, I'm using the orcid public api v1.2 to retrieve data on members of orcid, that match the search criteria. I'm doing this with AJAX requests and it works on Firefox but not on Chrome or IE. I can get the authorization token from all three browsers. The search request only returns the members

Verified email address now required to edit records in the UI

Thu, 20 Apr 2017 - 17:31 UTC
As many of you will have seen, we announced in late March that a verified email address will be required to access all the features on the user interface of ORCID records. Today that requirement goes into place. This change does not affect calls made using the ORCID APIs. But we wanted to reach

Get ResearcherId from ORCid

Thu, 20 Apr 2017 - 05:51 UTC
Hello, According to this chart: https://orcid.org/organizations/integrators/integration-chart There is some sort of integration between ResearcherId and ORCid. I was wondering if is there any API endpoint that would return, among with other information, an author's ResearcherId for a given

ATTENTION: PUB.ORCID.ORG is temporarily down

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 - 10:35 UTC
Sorry about the ad hoc communication. We are currently in firefighting mode. Earlier today we started receiving distributed deep search queries from an anonymous Public API client. In order to keep our Registry and Members API up we’ve have temporarily taken down the Public API. As soon as we

Inbox "archive" function not working

Wed, 29 Mar 2017 - 12:35 UTC
I am using Chrome 56.0.2924.8 on a macOS 10.12.3 and the Inbox "Archive Selected" button is not working. Nor are the "Archive" links. -- Andrew

prod orcid url check

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 - 19:14 UTC
Hi ORCID, Are these the right set of PROD urls for authorize and api for us to use for integration with ORCID 2.0? 1.) "https://orcid.org/oauth/authorize" (there is other piece of querystring after this url which we have it correctly and have the prod client_id) - to authorize with access

OAuth page will default to sign-in

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 - 16:32 UTC
In the next month, ORCID will change the default OAuth authenticate page to display the sign-in form instead of the registration form. As more and more researchers register for ORCID iDs (3,141,593 and counting! ) we find that they

URL for the authenticated user's profile

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 - 14:09 UTC
I've been writing a module for authentication via ORCID using OAuth2 [1] and it seems that - unusually - there isn't a URL that can be used to fetch the currently authenticated user's profile, using just the access token. Examples from other OAuth2 services: * https://graph.facebook.com/v2.5/me

java.io.OptionalDataException with /orcid-works 1.2 API call.

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 - 13:53 UTC
I am unable to get consistent results using the call https://api.orcid.org/v1.2/0000-0001-5236-4592/orcid-works Sometimes I get the expected data and sometimes I get the error message 1.2

Add affiliations with ORCID API

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 - 18:23 UTC
We have orcid API 2.0 integrated with java application to create a bio and get the scholarid and update to ur internal datasource. We are using oauth web service call to get the access token and redirects fine to the sandbox orcid page where we set up the orcid account with password. We have

A single call to read multiple works with the ORCID API

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 - 17:25 UTC
We mentioned this feature was on the sandbox last week in response to a request. In case anyone missed it: You can now access the full metadata of multiple works at once by using the endpoint /works/ followed by the put-codes of each work separated by a comma. For example: curl -i -H "Accept:

Different numbers of ORCID iDs when using the ORCID API for the affiliation search with Ringgold id

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 - 12:45 UTC
Hi, when I used the ORCID API about one month ago to find ORCID iD holders at my institution using the search by Ringgold id functionality I got a number of 123. ------ <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

Issues attempting to parse works

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 - 11:27 UTC
Hi, We are attempting to use the new ORCID V2.0 api to import works into a repository based on the ORCID identifier. To do this we are using the following call: curl -H "Accept: application/orcid+xml" 'https://pub.sandbox.orcid.org/v2.0/0000-0002-9227-8514/works' The resulting xml should be

Pull Multiple Items

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 - 19:21 UTC
Greetings! I am currently working on upgrading our implementation to v2 and have a question related to pulling information from ORCID. We allow users to select which entries to pull from their ORCID profile into our system. However, in order to get all of the information for each item we have

API 2.0: search use case in new API requires 11 calls instead of 1 on the old API

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 - 15:29 UTC
Hi, I really hope I'm missing something obvious here. Following these tutorials: https://members.orcid.org/api/tutorial/search-orcid-registry https://members.orcid.org/api/tutorial/read-orcid-records it became clear that the search only returns the ORCIDS, and that additional calls are required

API Version 2.0 Available on Production

We are excited to announce that the stable, 2.0 version of our API is now available on the production registry! For those of you building a new integration, please make sure you are using 2.0. For anyone with a current integration you should start planning an upgrade to use version 2.0. The 1.2

API 2.0: authorization for /activities/update always fails

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 - 14:12 UTC
All I was able to authorize is the "/authenticate" scope. Whenever I try to request authorization for "/activities/update" on sandbox via the 2.0 API, it reports "Invalid scope". I tried both from Google OAuth playground and via curl with the same result. My client ID is APP-U5LLQCW33OX4QL72.

Biography updating

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 - 13:37 UTC
Hi all, I'm just getting to grips with the ORCID APIs as we'll soon be starting to use them in a project. We want to allow our academics to update their published and personal details once in a local "research hub" and then, where possible, push this information out to other services they might
